Retro Television Precision: Mido Multifort TV Big Date

Drawing inspiration from its 1970s heritage, Swiss manufacture Mido has revitalised one of the most distinctive case shapes in watchmaking with the Mido Multifort TV Big Date (£1,140).

Blending nostalgic TV-screen geometry with modern mechanical refinement, this timepiece captures the architectural spirit of mid-century design.

TV-Screen Architecture & Big Date Complication

The 316L stainless steel case features a cushion-shaped profile measuring 39.2mm by 40mm, with a slender 11.5mm thickness. Brushed and polished surfaces accentuate the TV-style bezel, framing a grey gradient dial with horizontal brushed lines.

At 12 o’clock sits Mido’s signature Big Date display, utilising two independent rotating discs to create an oversized, legible date window three times larger than standard apertures.

Calibre 80 & Nivachron Technology

Visible through the sapphire display back is Mido’s Calibre 80 automatic movement. Operating at 21,600 vph, this engine boasts an 80-hour power reserve and an anti-magnetic Nivachron balance spring.

Rated to 100 metres of water resistance, the Multifort TV Big Date comes paired with an integrated steel bracelet, offering exceptional versatility and retro charm.
