In an enthusiast landscape often dominated by mechanical purism, building a serious, high-spec digital tool watch remains one of horology’s most underappreciated disciplines. For decades, the rugged digital arena has been largely conceded to resin monoliths, leaving collectors longing for something that pairs lightweight titanium metallurgy with genuine watchmaking ambition.

Enter Singapore-based RZE. Since launching the original UltraHex™ Titanium Digital (UTD-8000) in early 2025, the brand has subjected its field-ready platform to punishing real-world abuse. Now, they are pushing the format forward with the RZE UTD-8080-ST Watch.

Priced at £360 (delivering November 2026), the UTD-8080-ST marks a major milestone: the debut of the RZE-8080, the brand’s first digital module developed entirely in-house. It represents a bold step forward that combines custom electronics with high-contrast Cerakote® aesthetics and a rare, laudable commitment to modular circularity.
The RZE-8080 Module & High-Contrast FSTN Display
Developing an in-house digital movement is a daunting endeavour, yet taking ownership of the module was the only way RZE could stand behind its lifetime guarantee. Over the past twelve months, the brand’s engineering team meticulously refined the UTD platform, listening closely to feedback from explorers and owners.

The heart of the new timepiece is the custom RZE-8080 module. Chief among the upgrades is a transition to a high-contrast Film-compensated Super Twisted Nematic (FSTN) LCD panel.

Compared to standard screens, FSTN technology yields dramatically darker, crisply separated segments against a clean background, eliminating ghosting and broadening viewing angles across extreme temperatures.

The onboard feature set has also expanded considerably. The RZE-8080 introduces three essential complications: Dual Time (DT) for seamless travel, a programmable Timer (TR), and a versatile Multi-Function Alarm, alongside an hourly chime, a 1/100-second stopwatch, and a full auto-calendar mapped out to 2099. When darkness sets in, an electric aqua-marine ‘UltraGlow’ LED backlight floods the dial with clear, even illumination.
Arctic White Cerakote & UltraHex™ Grade 2 Titanium
Framing this new digital engine is a striking evolution of RZE’s angular geometry. Measuring 41mm across the bezel (42mm at the case midsection), 13.4mm in thickness, and 49.5mm lug-to-lug, the UTD-8080-ST delivers serious wrist presence while remaining lightweight thanks to its solid Grade 2 titanium chassis.

For the ST execution, RZE applied a durable white Cerakote® ceramic finish across the faceted case, juxtaposed sharply against stealthy black DLC accents. Underneath the ceramic skin, the titanium retains RZE’s proprietary UltraHex™ coating, bolstering surface hardness to resist scratches and abrasions.

A flat sapphire crystal treated with an internal Super-AR coating protects the screen from impact, while a screw-secured titanium caseback ensures a dive-ready 200 metres (20 ATM) of water resistance. Powered by a standard CR2032 coin cell, the watch delivers over three years of battery life, completely bypassing daily charging cables.
Circular Horology & Complete Specifications
Perhaps the most impressive facet of this release is RZE’s approach to product circularity. Rather than rendering earlier purchases obsolete, the brand designed the RZE-8080 module to be completely backwards-compatible.

Starting in January 2027, original UTD-8000 owners can have their watches upgraded to the new module for just US$100.
