Wings of Time: Exploring the Nezumi Corbeau Pan Am Edition Watch

Nezumi has earned a reputation for crafting chronographs that capture the spirit of vintage motorsport and classic tool watches, executed with a keen eye for detail and quality. Their latest release sees them embarking on a truly special collaboration, partnering with the legendary Pan American World Airways – the airline that, for many, defined the romance and adventure of the golden age of travel. The result is the Nezumi Corbeau – Pan Am Edition – a limited-edition chronograph that beautifully captures the spirit of innovation and timeless design that Pan Am brought to the world stage, reimagined for the discerning traveller of today.

Assembled in Germany and limited to a strict run of just 200 watches, this collaboration piece blends Nezumi’s signature craftsmanship with Pan Am’s iconic legacy, creating a wearable piece of aviation history. The watch takes Nezumi’s ‘Corbeau’ model – French for crow, their take on a classic mil-spec themed chronograph – and infuses it with Pan Am’s distinct aesthetic.

The 40mm case is crafted from brushed 316L stainless steel, providing a robust and classic foundation (measuring 47mm lug-to-lug, 12.75mm thick including the domed crystal, with a 20mm lug width). It features a push/pull crown and is topped with a 120 click unidirectional turning bezel fixed with a brushed steel insert and black markings. This bezel is designed for tracking an additional time zone or counting elapsed hours – a practical feature for any traveller.

Protection for the dial comes from a double-domed genuine sapphire crystal, enhanced with an internal anti-reflective coating for clarity and durability, adding a touch of vintage charm with its domed profile. The dial itself features hour, minute, and center seconds hands, along with the applied indexes, all generously lumed with Swiss Grade X1 Super-LumiNova® – ensuring excellent legibility in low light conditions.

At the heart of this chronograph is the Seiko VK63 mecha-quartz movement. This is not a standard quartz movement, but a clever hybrid that uses a mechanical module to run the chronograph function.

This provides the satisfying sweep of a mechanical chronograph hand when started, the tactile feel of mechanical pushers, and the instant snap back to zero upon reset – offering the key experiential benefits of a mechanical chrono with the reliability and accuracy of quartz timekeeping for the main display.

Adding to the exclusivity and Pan Am theme, each watch comes with two Juno canvas straps. One is a classic black, while the other is an exclusive “Pan Am blue,” specifically designed for this watch. These Juno straps are made of top-quality canvas and feature a unique lining crafted from faux leather derived from apple pomace discarded from the Italian beverage industry – adding a note of sustainable innovation. With 5 ATM (50m / 164ft) water resistance, the watch is built for everyday wear and splashes.

The Nezumi Corbeau – Pan Am Edition – truly lives up to the promise of “It’s all in the details,” from the specific bezel function and Super-LumiNova to the hybrid movement and unique straps. Assembled and quality-controlled in Germany, and limited to just 200 pieces worldwide, this limited-edition chronograph offers a striking blend of Nezumi’s signature craftsmanship and Pan Am’s iconic legacy. Available at a price point of €464, this watch is a compelling piece for aviation enthusiasts, travellers, and chronograph collectors seeking a unique blend of heritage, modern functionality, and exclusivity.
