RZE Fortitude GMT: Cleared for Takeoff

The RZE Fortitude GMT ($699) isn’t just a pilot’s watch; it’s a statement of purpose, a call to adventure, and a testament to thoughtful design. One glance at the Fortitude GMT, and you’ll understand why it earns its place in the cockpit, the jump seat, or even the backseat – it’s a watch built for those who value precision, legibility, and a touch of aviation-inspired flair. Whether you’re crossing time zones or just navigating the urban jungle, the Fortitude GMT ensures you’re always ready for takeoff.

This watch prioritizes legibility above all else. The custom handset for “local time” and the prominent “home time” hand ensure that tracking multiple time zones is effortless. No more confusion or missed connections; the Fortitude GMT keeps you perfectly synchronized, no matter where your travels take you. The jet turbine-inspired bezel, signature hands and indexes, and sandwich dial with generous lume further contribute to the watch’s exceptional readability.

The Fortitude GMT is crafted from solid titanium with RZE’s proprietary UltraHex™ coating, achieving a hardness of up to ~1200Hv. This makes the watch incredibly resistant to scratches and scuffs, ensuring it can withstand the rigours of daily wear and adventurous pursuits. The watch is also water-resistant to 100m (330ft), making it suitable for swimming and other water activities.

At the heart of the Fortitude GMT beats the Miyota 9075 “true” GMT automatic movement. This premium movement not only offers exceptional accuracy and reliability but also allows for a slimmer case profile, making the watch even more comfortable to wear. The screw-down crown, adorned with a custom embossed logo, adds to the watch’s robustness and water resistance.

The sand-textured sandwich dial, with applied indexes and Swiss Superluminova BGW9 lume, provides a visually appealing and highly legible display. The sapphire crystal with inner-side Super-AR coating further enhances clarity and scratch resistance. The solid titanium bracelet, also treated with the UltraHex™ coating, features RZE’s innovative QUIKCLIQ™ 316L deployment buckle for easy and secure adjustments. The screw-down solid titanium caseback, fitted with a VITON® gasket, adds to the watch’s overall durability and water resistance.

A particularly clever touch is the red stem tube revealed when the titanium crown is unscrewed, inspired by “REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT” tags. This serves as a visual cue to engage the GMT function, encouraging adventurers to make full use of its capabilities. A satisfying click as you adjust the local time further enhances the tactile experience.

The Fortitude GMT maintains the aesthetic of RZE’s original professional pilot’s watch, but with a full flight of upgrades. The addition of an on-the-fly adjustable buckle and quick-release lugs further optimizes the watch for comfort and versatility, making it even more adaptable than your travel plans. The included Blackcomb Pouch provides convenient storage and protection for the watch when you’re on the move. The RZE Fortitude GMT is more than just a watch; it’s a reliable companion, a stylish statement, and a testament to the spirit of adventure. It’s a watch that’s cleared for takeoff, ready to accompany you on all your journeys, both big and small.
