Ultra-Thin Micro-Rotor Engineering: Formex Aria Manufacture Chronometer

Biel-based independent maker Formex has long been celebrated for its muscular, high-performance sports watches. With the Formex Aria Manufacture Chronometer, the brand enters high-tier horology, unveiling an ultra-thin integrated titanium timepiece that represents a complete evolution in design language.

Housed in a Grade 5 titanium case measuring 40mm in diameter and an astonishing 6.9mm in total thickness, the watch weighs just 78 grams including its integrated bracelet.

The case replaces rigid industrial angles with fluid, organic curves, punctuated by hand-brushed surfaces and mirror-polished chamfers across the flanks.

Proprietary Calibre FX01 Micro-Rotor

Beating beneath a sapphire exhibition caseback is the proprietary Calibre FX01, engineered exclusively for Formex in collaboration with Swiss movement specialist Horage.

Built on Horage’s ultra-thin K2 micro-rotor architecture, the 2.9mm thick movement features an integrated tungsten micro-rotor and a full silicon regulating organ—including the hairspring, escape wheel, and pallet fork.

Operating at 25,200 vibrations per hour (3.5Hz), the COSC-certified chronometer delivers an impressive 72-hour power reserve alongside a flexible geartrain pinion for backlash-free hand setting.

Sculptural Concave Dial & Patented Clasp Engineering

The dial presents a masterclass in sculptural depth. Stamped from a single piece of brass, the matte surface slopes gently inward like a natural basin carved into stone.

Each applied rose gold-plated index rests on a raised platform above concave recesses, while a sunken small-seconds sub-dial at 6 o’clock balances the rose gold hands filled with custom Tritec Super-LumiNova.

The integrated Grade 5 titanium bracelet incorporates Formex’s patented micro-adjustment clasp system, allowing 3mm of instant extension on either side without opening the buckle or removing the watch from the wrist.

Delivering ultra-light comfort alongside high-spec Swiss engineering, the Formex Aria Manufacture Chronometer stands out as a genuine triumph of modern Swiss micro-rotor horology.
