Nomos Glashütte Club Sport neomatik Worldtimer Canyon: Exploring Earth Tones and Global Time

Nomos Glashütte has long held a distinct position in the world of watchmaking, marrying Bauhaus-inspired minimalism with serious in-house technical capability from the heart of Glashütte. While renowned for their elegant dress watches, their Club Sport line injects a dose of robust practicality and contemporary flair.

Now, Nomos introduces a captivating new limited edition that combines the utility of their innovative worldtimer complication with a unique aesthetic inspired by the raw beauty of nature: the Club Sport neomatik Worldtimer Canyon. This exclusive timepiece, limited to just 175 pieces worldwide and available for £3940, offers a unique connection to global time wrapped in the colours of adventurous landscapes.

The visual identity of the Canyon is instantly striking, drawing inspiration from the warm ochre and bright terracotta earth tones characteristic of vast outback landscapes. These hues are juxtaposed with the light blue of an endless sky and the rich darkness of deep gorges, creating a palette that speaks of both immense scale and strong contrasts – mirroring the experience of traversing different time zones. It’s a thoughtful approach to colour design, adding a layer of narrative to the watch’s appearance.

The dial, rendered in a light brown that perfectly captures the earthy theme, serves as the stage for the worldtime display. The city ring presents all 24 time zones at a glance, while a separate hand indicates the 24-hour home time, complete with intuitive day and night displays. Legibility is ensured through hour numerals and indexes filled with white Superluminova, complemented by rhodium-plated hour and minute hands featuring Superluminova inlay in light blue – a subtle nod to the sky reflected in the dial’s tones. The light blue 24-hour hand provides clear indication against the brown backdrop. All of this is protected by a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides, ensuring clarity from any angle.

Housed within a tripartite stainless steel case, measuring a comfortable 40.0mm in diameter and a remarkably slim 9.9mm in height (with a lug-to-lug of 48.0mm), the watch wears effortlessly on the wrist despite housing a complex complication. The screwed case back and screw-down crown contribute to a practical 10 atm water resistance, making it suitable for swimming. Powering the worldtime function is the in-house automatic calibre DUW 3202.

This movement, the third neomatik calibre to feature a worldtime complication, is notable for its slender height of just 4.8mm. This impressive thinness is achieved through an innovative in-house design that seamlessly integrates the complication directly into the gear train – a testament to Nomos’s clever engineering and their philosophy of “worldtime rethought.” Visible through the sapphire crystal case back, the movement features a rotor adorned with a golden globe, a fitting detail for a world traveller’s watch. With 37 jewels, this 31mm diameter calibre offers up to a 42-hour power reserve.

The watch is paired with the Club Sport bracelet, crafted from outstanding materials with alternating fine satin and highly polished finishes that harmoniously connect to the case. The bracelet is individually adjustable for a perfect fit and features convenient quick-change spring bars. Each piece is marked with a “Limited Edition – Canyon 1/175” engraving on the case back, signifying its exclusivity and connection to this unique theme.

Presented in a black leather case perfect for travel, the Nomos Glashütte Club Sport neomatik Worldtimer Canyon is a compelling blend of German watchmaking precision, thoughtful design inspiration, and practical functionality, all within a beautifully executed limited package.
