Bremont Altitude MB Meteor: Forging Aviation Legacy in Titanium

In the demanding world where high-performance aviation meets luxury watchmaking, Bremont consistently pushes the envelope. The Altitude MB Meteor, priced at £4950, represents the zenith of this pursuit, marking the most significant evolution of the brand’s revered Martin-Baker (MB) series.

This timepiece is not merely an instrument but a testament to relentless innovation, integrating cutting-edge materials, enhanced ergonomics, and substantial technical advancements within the iconic MB dual-crown, Trip-Tick case format. Its name pays homage to a pivotal moment in British aviation history – the Gloster Meteor, the UK’s first jet fighter, famously utilised for Martin-Baker’s inaugural live ejection test back in 1946.

This legacy of survival and engineering prowess is palpable in the watch’s very construction. Crafted from lightweight yet incredibly durable 42mm Grade 2 titanium, the familiar three-part Trip-Tick case has been meticulously re-engineered, boasting a slimmer profile and a reduced lug-to-lug distance, significantly enhancing wrist presence and comfort for the wearer.

The ergonomic refinements extend to the distinctive dual crowns. Positioned at 2 o’clock for winding and setting, and 4 o’clock for operating the bi-directional inner bezel, they have been optimised for superior utility and tactile feedback, delivering remarkably smooth operation. Bremont’s proprietary Roto-Click technology for the inner bezel has also undergone re-engineering, ensuring the precise, satisfying click – a hallmark familiar and cherished by MB owners – operates with effortless precision.

Legibility, paramount in cockpit instrumentation, is masterfully addressed on the brushed black galvanic metal dial through crisp, applied numerals and indexes filled generously with white Super-LumiNova®, ensuring clarity in all lighting conditions. Subtle stencilled detailing adds depth, while the design retains one of the MB line’s most distinguishing features: the striking ‘lollipop’ seconds hand, counterbalanced by the looped ‘ejection’ pull handle motif rendered in distinctive white and black stripes.

Beneath this highly functional facade beats the heart of the machine – the BB14 automatic movement, offering a robust 68-hour power reserve. Demonstrating Bremont’s commitment to resilience, the movement is ingeniously suspended within a flexible rubber mount, providing exceptional anti-shock protection. Furthermore, an inner soft iron ring acts as a Faraday cage, shielding the calibre from disruptive magnetic fields.

For the first time in an MB model, an open case-back, fashioned from decorated titanium, reveals the movement’s sophisticated gunmetal grey finishing and elegant Geneva Stripes, blending ruggedness with horological artistry. Completing this exceptional package is a newly designed brushed titanium bracelet featuring quick-release functionality and curved bars for seamless articulation and unparalleled comfort.

The Bremont Altitude MB Meteor is unequivocally engineered for those who push boundaries, a sophisticated tool watch forged from a legacy of airborne survival and horological excellence.
