Breaking Cover: The Vivid Precision of the MicroMilSpec DualTimer “Look-At-Me” Edition

In the strictly regimented world of military-inspired horology, stealth is usually the standard operating procedure. Since MicroMilSpec delivered their inaugural project in 2020, they have built a reputation on discretion and tactical utility, completing over 40 custom commissions where 38 featured a stark, uncompromising black dial.

However, even the most disciplined regimens require a break in formation. With their latest release, the MicroMilSpec DualTimer, the brand is restoring a sense of vibrant order to their catalogue, going full “look-at-me”—albeit in a sophisticated, non-flamboyant manner—with three perfectly judged colourways that redefine the brand’s aesthetic.

This limited run is an exercise in exclusivity and precision, with only 25 pieces produced in each colour. The watch maintains the brand’s signature instrument-inspired design language but elevates it with a newfound visual confidence. At the heart of the exterior architecture is the signature 42mm octagonal case, crafted from brushed 316L surgical-grade stainless steel.

It strikes a commanding silhouette on the wrist, sitting 12mm high, and features a chamfered crown guard designed for optimal comfort. The case is topped with a 120-click QuadGrip bezel with a ceramic insert, offering a tactile experience that speaks to the rigorous quality control and manual “eye-to-hand” finishing involved in its production.

A subtle yet functional detail is the screw-in crown’s “red alert” winding stem, a visual cue that ensures the wearer knows the crown is secured, guaranteeing the substantial 200-meter water resistance.

Functionality remains paramount in the DualTimer. As the name suggests, the watch is designed to track two time zones simultaneously, a feature executed with remarkable clarity.

Legibility is ensured day or night through the clever application of bi-color Super-LumiNova: glowing green for local time and a distinct blue for home time. This luminous display is protected by a domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, ensuring that the new colourful dials remain visible under the harshest glare.

Beating beneath the brushed steel caseback is the Swiss-made Sellita SW330-2 GMT movement. This automatic, self-winding mechanical heart is a proven entity in the world of travel watches, vibrating at 28,800 vph and offering a robust 56-hour power reserve.

MicroMilSpec hasn’t just dropped in a stock movement; it has been adjusted for accuracy to within ± 7 seconds per day and fitted with a custom MicroMilSpec rotor. Secured by a seamlessly integrated strap system that fits all wrist sizes, this rare combination of Swiss manufacturing, limited production numbers, and robust military-grade engineering is priced at £1440. It is a compelling proposition for the collector who values a timepiece that is built like a tank but dressed for the officer’s mess.
