In the crowded landscape of modern sports watches, where the integrated bracelet aesthetic has become the de facto uniform of the stylish urbanite, standing out requires more than just sharp angles and a sleek silhouette. It requires a soul.

With the release of the Viridis, British brand Farer has injected a profound sense of organic luxury into the genre, delivering a timepiece that feels less like a machine and more like a captured piece of the natural world.

Priced at £1,550, this is the flagship of their new Integra collection, a name derived from the Latin for “whole” or “complete,” fitting for a design where case and bracelet flow into one another with such seamless fluidity.

The undisputed protagonist of the Viridis—Latin for “green”—is its mesmerizing dial. Farer has eschewed traditional lacquers and enamels in favor of genuine malachite. Cut from a single piece of this vibrant gemstone, each dial is a unique geological fingerprint, boasting its own entrancing ribbon patterns of light and dark veridian.

No two watches are alike, ensuring that every owner possesses a singular work of art. The stone is carefully shaped, polished, and then etched with deep horizontal lines that visually echo the links of the bracelet, creating a rhythmic continuity across the entire watch. To ensure readability against this complex backdrop, applied polished silver hour markers, a mix of Arabic numerals and batons, are filled with the latest Grade X2 Super-LumiNova.

The tapered, bevelled hands appear to float above the surface, their bases painted a glossy green to blend perfectly with the stone, while the seconds hand features a distinctive polished tip that sweeps across the brushed metallic rehaut.

Encasing this mineral masterpiece is a 38.5mm marine-grade 316L stainless steel housing that balances robust durability with dressy elegance. The case measures just 10.3mm in thickness, sliding effortlessly under a shirt cuff. The finishing is exemplary, with satin-brushed surfaces punctuated by polished chamfers that highlight the sleek profile.

This interplay of light continues onto the integrated steel bracelet, which features chamfered edges and individual polished center links. Farer has also solved the perennial problem of integrated bracelets—comfort—by incorporating a concealed butterfly clasp with an on-the-fly micro-adjustment system, allowing the bracelet to expand by up to 6mm for perfect sizing on hot days.

Powering the Viridis is the Swiss-made Sellita SW300-1 Top Grade movement, visible through the exhibition caseback. It is a serious engine, offering a reliable 56-hour power reserve and beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour. In a touch of thoughtful customization, the fully circular rotor has been vapour-coated in green to match the dial.

For those moments when the steel bracelet feels too formal, the watch is supplied with a bespoke rubber strap, segmented to mimic the bracelet links and textured for breathability. The Farer Viridis is not just a sports watch; it is a holistic expression of color, texture, and mechanical precision.
