Farer Lomond II Field Watch: Adventure-Ready Elegance

The Farer Lomond II Field Watch (£1095) takes a modern approach to the classic field watch, putting legibility and versatility front and centre. Designed for the adventurer at heart, the Lomond II offers a rugged yet stylish aesthetic that is perfect for all occasions—whether you’re hiking through the Scottish Highlands or navigating urban jungles. Named after the picturesque Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park in Scotland, this watch pays homage to the spirit of exploration, embodying the beauty and resilience of the region.

The Lomond II features a gravel-textured navy blue dial, complemented by custard yellow hour markers that stand out clearly against the background. The classic 3, 6, 9 layout, along with a triangle at the 12 o’clock position, ensures instant recognition of key time indicators. Each of these markers is heavily coated with Grade X1 Super-LumiNova, guaranteeing that the time can be easily read in any lighting condition, even during the darkest of nights. Adding to the charm of the watch are the sword-style hands in a textured battleship grey, with the seconds hand boasting a bright red tip that adds a dynamic splash of colour.

One of the distinctive features of the Lomond II is its sloped rehaut, which is printed with date numbers. Most of these numbers are white, but the final four are printed in red, highlighting the need for users to adjust the date during shorter months. The watch also includes a fourth, mid-blue “pointer” hand that indicates the date, with an inverted red Farer ‘A’ tip, making date-reading intuitive and easy.

Crafted from 316L marine-grade stainless steel, the case of the Lomond II is as tough as they come. The fixed brushed steel bezel and flat strengthened sapphire crystal, treated with three layers of internal anti-reflective coating, provide durability and clarity, no matter the environment. The screw-in steel crown features a machined solid bronze cap embossed with the Farer ‘A’ logo, adding a touch of vintage charm to the overall design.

Completing the package, the Lomond II comes with a three-link stainless steel bracelet equipped with quick-release spring bars, half links, and a double-locking safety clasp with NodeX™ on-the-fly micro-adjustment. For those seeking a more casual look, a genuine sailcloth strap is also included, offering versatility for any occasion. With a water resistance rating of 150 meters (15 ATM), this watch is more than capable of keeping up with any adventure you throw at it.

Inside the Lomond II is a Swiss Made Sellita SW221-1 movement, featuring 26 jewels and operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). With a self-winding mechanism that provides a power reserve of approximately 41 hours when fully wound, this movement offers reliability and precision that match the watch’s adventurous spirit. Additional functions include hours, minutes, sweep second, quick-set pointer date, and hacking seconds for precise time-setting.

With its combination of rugged functionality, stunning design, and a connection to the natural beauty of Scotland, the Farer Lomond II Field Watch is a timepiece for those who love to explore and appreciate the finer details. Whether you’re taking on the great outdoors or looking for a versatile, stylish watch for everyday wear, the Lomond II is an exceptional choice that embodies the essence of adventure.
