Few independent Swiss watchmakers possess the unpretentious integrity and horological ambition of Hölstein’s Oris. While the brand made waves with its high-efficiency Calibre 400 series automatics, enthusiasts hold a special reverence for the powerhouse movement that ignited their modern mechanical renaissance: the Calibre 111.
Originally introduced as a bold declaration of mechanical independence, it marked the brand’s first in-house industrialised calibre since the 1970s, reviving a manufacture tradition established by the company’s founders. Now, the iconic aviation platform returns in a newly refined guise: the Oris ProPilot Calibre 111 Watch.

Priced at $7,200 (~£5,500), this newly proportioned pilot watch blends ten days of hand-wound autonomy with subtle dial refinements, offering collectors a compelling balance of high-horology capability and purposeful aviation utility.
A Refined 43mm Pilot Case & Turbine Architecture
For this latest evolution, Oris honed the ProPilot’s case architecture into a balanced 43.00mm multi-piece stainless steel format (slimming down from the previous generation’s imposing 44mm footprint).

Measuring 51mm lug-to-lug and 13.2mm in thickness, the brushed case wears with commanding presence while sliding comfortably under a leather jacket or tailored cuff. A signature element of the ProPilot DNA remains front and centre: the distinctive turbine-fluted bezel. Inspired by the angled blades of a jet engine, the knurled pattern provides tactile grip while catching light from varied angles.

The case is topped with a double-domed sapphire crystal treated with an internal anti-reflective coating to eliminate cockpit glare, while an oversized screw-in crown secures a confident 10 bar (100 metres) of water resistance.
Textured Pine Green Dial & Non-Linear Power Indication
The dial provides an arresting focal point, rendered in a handsome pine green that marries two distinct surface textures. The central plane showcases clean vertical brushing for an architectural aesthetic, encircled by an organic, stippled outer zone that adds tactile depth. Crisp applied Arabic numerals and lume-tipped hands are generously filled with Super-LumiNova for razor-sharp nocturnal legibility.

The dial layout remains an Oris signature, balancing small seconds and an integrated date aperture at 9 o’clock with the brand’s patented non-linear power reserve indicator at 3 o’clock.

Unlike linear gauges that move at an unchanging rate, Oris’s clever gearing causes the hand to accelerate as the reserve depletes. The final two days of power occupy a magnified arc, giving wearers pinpoint accuracy precisely when winding becomes urgent.
Calibre 111: 240 Hours of Mechanical Autonomy
Turn the watch over, and the screwed sapphire exhibition back puts the expansive 34.00mm Calibre 111 on full display. Beating at a steady 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz), this hand-wound movement houses an enormous single mainspring barrel capable of delivering a staggering 240 hours—a full ten days—of power reserve.
