Created in collaboration with watch journalist and content creator Andrew Morgan, the Fears Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour ‘Ultimus’ Watch represents the curtain call for the brand’s jump hour collection.
Priced at £4450 on a strap (with a bracelet option available at £4750), the ‘Ultimus’ is available exclusively during a one-week ordering window opening August 10th and closing August 17th at 23:59 BST.
Hand-built in small batches with deliveries beginning in November, this release is non-limited in total volume but strictly limited by time—giving collectors a final opportunity to secure a landmark piece of modern British watchmaking.
Art Deco Geometry & The 1924 Cushion Case
The foundation of the ‘Ultimus’ remains the fluid, curvaceous Brunswick cushion case—a 40.5mm design machined from 316L stainless steel.
Drawing direct inspiration from a gentleman’s pocket-to-wrist transition watch in the Fears archives dating back to 1924, the case features zero flat surfaces. Its sweeping curves alternate between mirror-polished and spun brushed finishes, achieving a level of depth usually reserved for precious metal cases.

A bespoke “onion” winding crown signed with the Fears Cypher adds a traditional tactile flourish to the right side of the case, while an AMW logo is subtly engraved under one lug to commemorate the collaboration with Andrew Morgan.
The Phantom White Dial & Low-Light Metamorphosis
Where previous Fears Jump Hour models utilized a solid dial plate with a traditional aperture window at 12 o’clock, the ‘Ultimus’ flips the script entirely.
Featuring the most complex dial ever engineered by Fears, the “Phantom White” layout uses a three-layer transparent sapphire construction that leaves the entire rotating hour disc completely exposed underneath.
“By replacing the standard cut-out window with a layered sapphire dial and integrated magnifying lens, Fears and Andrew Morgan turned the entire jumping hour disc into a piece of kinetic visual theatre.”
An outer sapphire ring with a black gradient frames a semi-transparent frosted minute track, suspended above a textured luminous ceramic center.
Reading the time requires only a single central minute hand—coated in black PVD and finished with one half mirror-polished and the other frosted for legibility. In daylight, the display offers an architectural, monochrome aesthetic.
In low light, the luminous ceramic disc and hour wheel emit a radiant, deep blue glow that permeates up through the entire sapphire assembly.
Swiss Heart: The Christopher Ward JJ01 Module
Ticking inside the ‘Ultimus’ is the automatic JJ01 jumping hour module, engineered by Christopher Ward on top of a Swiss Sellita SW200 base.
Originally developed for the Alliance 01 collaboration, this module is now exclusively supplied to Fears. Regulated to chronometer-grade accuracy, the self-winding movement offers a 38-hour power reserve.
